Things Your Tardigrades Do

Your tardigrades are in development and are coming up with new activities to attempt all the time. Please be patient, they’re not particularly talented or ambitious yet.

Currently, your tardigrades spend their time:

• Eating anything they can manage to reach, and they really do try
• Taking short breaks, wherein they contemplate life and recuperate a little bit
• Struggling to navigate, because physics is hard for everyone and tardigrades are uniquely inept in this regard
• Never failing to poop, even when the poop is much too big and the process gets weird.

Your Tardigrades and Tun States

Occasionally, your tardigrades might enter a tiny tun state if they feel it could be necessary, especially if they haven’t had a morsel in a while.  This stasis that tardigrades resort to is a survival technique to overcome extreme conditions that would otherwise kill them, which is one of the many intriguing things about them.  Not every tardigrade manages to recover once they are in a tun state. It's a dangerous world out there.

Your tardigrades will not be exposed to any extreme conditions or threats, but being in a tun state will allow them to tolerate your inevitable, gentle neglect (they're very emotionally sensitive, and also hungry). Don’t worry; your tardigrades will never die, or even start resenting you. Tardigrades are extremely forgiving by nature…we very much hope. 

So, if any of your tardigrades become quite still and pale, they are likely in a tun state and will recover if given time, heartfelt compliments, and, as always, food.

Things Your Tardigrades Dream of Someday Doing (Features in Development)

Your tardigrades have aspirations, even if they're small!

Soon enough, your tardigrades will be: 

• Shedding their cuticles and leaving them behind as ghostly, transparent silhouettes of themselves, because that's what tardigrades routinely do
• Being friendly, casual acquaintances with other creatures who will ideally help clean up the place by eating poop and other unwanted debris
• Using their legs somewhat sensibly, but not too sensibly, and gripping onto the substrate
• Communicating with you directly through motions, emotes, and thought bubbles
• Receiving what will surely be the most dignified and wonderful names, in honourable bestowment by you, as you ceremoniously type them in. 

Hazy Paw Pets! Controls

To bring up and use the Hazy Paw Pets! Controls, click the application’s icon on the bottom toolbar and then select the blue icon (little tardigrade face) on the bottom right of your screen. This clicking will need to be repeated if you navigate away and come back.

Once you've got your buttons up and running, you can interact with your tardigrades and their environment through the following actions:

Add Food

When you Add Food, it will gradually descend from the top of your screen. Tardigrades poop a lot, no need to overfeed them. That could be dangerous.

Clear Food

Clear Food if technical issues arise, or if your tardigrades lose all respect for you as their deity and need a good reminding.

Randomize Colours

You can randomize your tardigrades' colours as much as you like; they enjoy expressing their creative side, and yours.

Adjust the Population Slider

Use the Population Slider to manage the number of your tardigrades that stay and hang out. The rest will wander off, but not far. Fewer tardigrades usually result in fewer technical issues (for now), and of course fewer poops.

Increase or Decrease Scale

You can scale the size of all items and tardigrades up and down, and also reset it if things get out of hand. It is best to Clear Food and reduce the number of tardigrades before resizing everything.
